- American Odds
- Odds displayed as a positive or negative number; positive shows profit on a $100 bet, negative shows how much you must wager to win $100.
- Asian Handicap
- A spread that eliminates the draw outcome by giving a half-goal or whole-goal handicap to each team.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money set aside for placing bets.
- Both Teams To Score
- A bet on whether each side will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Closing Line
- The final set of odds offered before a match starts; getting a better line than the closing line is a sign of a good bet.
- Decimal Odds
- A way to express odds as a single number that includes the stake; the payout equals odds multiplied by the stake.
- Draw No Bet
- A wager that refunds your stake if the match ends in a draw, otherwise you win if your chosen team wins.
- Expected Value
- The average amount you can expect to win or lose per bet if the same situation repeats.
- Fractional Odds
- Traditional odds shown as a fraction, where the numerator is the profit and the denominator is the stake.
- Futures
- A bet placed on the outcome of a tournament or award, such as who will win the World Cup.
- Juice
- The commission a bookmaker charges for taking a bet, built into the odds.
- Line Movement
- Changes in the odds or spread after they first open, often due to new information or betting action.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with odds shown as a plus or minus number.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a match will be higher or lower than a set line.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the parlay to pay out.
- Point Spread
- A handicap given to the favored team to level the betting field, expressed as a number of goals.
- Prop Bet
- A side wager on a specific event within a match, such as which player scores first.
- Public Money
- The bulk of bets placed by casual bettors, which can move the line toward the popular side.
- Stake
- The amount of money you risk on a single bet.
- Steam
- Rapid, widespread betting movement that causes odds to shift quickly across books.
- Unit
- A standard amount of money used to measure the size of a bet, usually a fraction of your total bankroll.
- Value Bet
- A wager where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving an edge.
